Well, hello there. Did you think I'd abandoned you? I promise I didn't. I'm still here. But, it has been a busy couple of weeks and I'm still in the thick of it.
Here are some facts, both good and bad:
- Work has been busy, which is good. But also bad. When we got back from our Maui trip, I finally submitted the book chapter I've been working on for, like, the last fifteen years or something. Or maybe just six months. But, whatever. It's done. Until the edits come back anyway. Until then, I've been working on a couple of presentations that I'm giving within the next two weeks. And seeing patients. Lots of patients.
- Our babysitter has been lifesaver. She's working for us on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. If it weren't for her, I think I'd be bald from pulling my hair out. Because of her, I'm able to make it to the gym two or three days a week, or run errands, or get some extra things done at work. When we get home, the kids are bathed and have had dinner, and we can simply enjoy being with them. It's great.
- My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer a couple of weeks ago. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma to be exact. She had the final biopsy on February 5th (I think it was the 5th - it's all a blur, really), and then came appointment after appointment leading up to her hospital admission last Friday to start chemotherapy. She went home the next day but was unfortunately readmitted on Sunday with fevers. Looks like it's probably an infection around her newly placed infusaport, and she's improving on antibiotics.
So, that's what's happening around here. Not a very entertaining post, I realize, but hey - that's life, right? Not always entertaining.
